> Updates and Upgrades!

We have been quiet in the last months, but we are
continuously
working hard on the VGP3 engine,
that now has reached
V0.50.
There are many
improvements "under the hood" of the new engine,
including:
- an advanced tyre contact patch-soil interaction model for
offroad
terrains, using real terramechanics simulation of cohesive and
frictional properties
- improvements and refinements in the open wheeled
cars parameters
-
better, faster and more compatible OpenGL
3d shaders in the 3d engine
-
optimizations in the whole code
We are also working on additional tools that we plan to release very
soon, including the VGP3 gui-less
server,
the
Object Converter (a tool useful to import 3ds or lwo objects in
VGP3) and the
TrackDesigner utility.
The new version of VGP3 is currently available from the Download
section.
Pay attention to the fact that the new
file
formats
are
incompatible
with the old ones,
so you need to download both the new executables
and the new archives - Don't mix the old and new files!

famous

To
install the
track,

the archive and follow the
included
instructions.

> Major 3d engine upgrade!

A major
upgrade
for
the VGP3 3d engine is now available!
The new engine features an even more
immersive
feeling
thanks to many new effects, including
better
lighting
models,
parallax mapping
for better 3d rendering of rough surfaces and
realtime
shadows.
The new version of VGP3 is currently available from the Download
section.
Pay attention to the fact that the new
file
formats
are
incompatible
with the old ones,
so you need to download both the new executables
and the new archives - Don't mix the old and new files!
As a final note, please consider that the new engine is
still in beta so
it may require some
testing. For this reason, VGP3 currently
starts with the new features disabled, you must
turn the new 3d shaders on
manually from the video options menu screen!
